This artwork is inspired by the Theodore Grinding Grooves site- an important place of cultural significance for us Ngunawal Peoples. The layers reflect the landscape and the stories it holds- from the distant blue ranges and grassy hills, to the vibrant bushland and marks left by generations of crafting tools. Here I imagine my old people gathered- sharing stories, surviving together and being connected to Country. That’s the feeling I want to honour through this piece. It shows respect to sacred places, the tools shaped with care and the cultural importance they continue to have.
